On February 4, 2026, the FEDAE-CODIAM CEUQ assembly for Consulate employees was held in Milan.
Secretary Simone Gentile presented the team that will take the field to support the union initiative and provide on-site technical assistance to union members.
The team is composed of professionals with decades of experience in the legal field: Attorney Monica Olivieri and her colleague Riccardo Maria Zanchetta, who will serve as the reference point for the Construction Workers’ Fund (Cassa Edile) and AGI in labor disputes, as well as for labor-law matters; and Certified Public Accountant Luigi Azzerboni, who will provide tax consultancy.
Secretary Gentile once again emphasized the importance of building a strong and cohesive group in order to give credibility and strength to the union’s negotiating action at institutional tables.
The main objective is to request that the MAECI require Foreign Representations to apply a true National Collective Labor Agreement, following a census of all employees of Foreign Representations operating in Italy.
The strategy is to promote constant dialogue among the public administration, the MAECI, foreign representations, and the Union, which presents itself as a resource capable of providing technical assistance through its collaborators and of identifying effective solutions to improve workers’ contractual conditions by applying Italian law.
The message conveyed is therefore a constructive one: the current situation can be changed.
The assembly was also addressed by Confedir-CEUQ Secretary Giovanni Bernardi, who works at the MAECI and is well aware of the conditions granted to locally hired staff employed by Italian foreign missions. He stated that, in order to achieve justice, one must start from a simple principle of reciprocity: everything that the Italian government recognizes for local employees of foreign representations must also apply to us.
